What is Capxion?
Capxion turns songs, podcasts, talks and videos into word-synced captions and lyric videos. Upload or import a recording, Capxion transcribes it (or lines up lyrics you paste) word by word, you edit the text, timing and style, and export videos sized for each platform plus SRT, VTT or TXT subtitle files.
What can I upload?
Audio or video files: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, OPUS, MP4, MOV, M4V, WEBM and MKV. You can also import from Dropbox or paste a direct link to a media file.
Can Capxion get the lyrics of a song I upload?
Yes. Without lyrics, Capxion transcribes the vocals with speech recognition and times every word. For the best result, paste the song's lyrics when you create the project and Capxion lines them up with the audio. Either way you can fix any word in the editor and re-sync the timing.
Which languages are supported?
Capxion detects the spoken language automatically and captions in that language. It works with the languages supported by OpenAI Whisper, including English, Afrikaans, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Swahili and many more. Captions are in the original language; translation isn't offered yet.
Which platforms and formats can I export?
Captioned MP4 videos sized for YouTube (16:9), YouTube Shorts (9:16), TikTok (9:16), Instagram Reels (9:16), Instagram Feed (4:5), LinkedIn (16:9), with captions kept inside each platform's safe area, plus SRT, VTT and TXT subtitle files.
How do credits work?
Transcribing or syncing costs 1 credit per started 10 minutes of media. Exporting costs 1 credit per started minute of the exported range, per platform. An AI-generated background image costs 1 credit. If a job fails, its credits are refunded automatically. Credits never expire.
How much does Capxion cost?
Free costs nothing and includes signup credits. Lite is $2.49 (R49.99 in South Africa) a month with 20 credits; Creator is $12 (R249.99 in South Africa) a month with 100 credits; Pro is $29 (R599.99 in South Africa) a month with 300 credits. Extra credits come in a 25-credit pack for $4.99 (R99.99 in South Africa).
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes signup credits, exports up to 720p with a small Capxion watermark, and uploads up to 200 MB per file. No credit card is needed.
What's the difference between the plans?
Lite: 720p exports without a watermark, 20 credits a month, uploads up to 1 GB. Creator: 1080p, 100 credits a month, uploads up to 2 GB. Pro: up to 4K, 300 credits a month, uploads up to 2 GB.
How large can my files be?
Each upload can be up to 200 MB on Free, 1 GB on Lite and 2 GB on Creator and Pro. The limit applies per file, not per account.
Why do I see prices in rand?
Visitors in South Africa see prices in rand and pay through Paystack. Everyone else sees US dollars and pays through Stripe. Our rand prices follow the App Store's South African price points rather than a daily exchange rate.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, any time from Billing. If you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, and any credits on your balance stay.
Is there an API or AI agent integration?
Yes. Developers can use the REST API (https://api.capxion.me/v1) with TypeScript and Python SDKs. AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can connect to Capxion's MCP server at https://mcp.capxion.me/mcp by signing in, then caption and export media for you. Both are in beta.
Is my media private?
Yes. Your uploads and exports are stored privately and are only reachable through short-lived signed links. Transcription is processed by Microsoft Azure. Marketing emails are opt-in and you can change that any time under Account.
